Here is an interesting quote I read just today that kind of goes along with your post.

“It is not faith that saves, but faith in Jesus Christ… It is not, strictly speaking, even faith in Christ that saves, but Christ that saves through faith. The saving power resides exclusively, not in the act of faith or the attitude of faith or in the nature of faith, but in the object of faith.” --B. B. Warfield

Kenn, I appreciate your comments and I understand your struggles. I will definitely be praying for you. I personally think you are on the right track. If you keep reading the scripture from an unbiased position, I think you will see that the things you speak of are scriptural principles. I agree that the "peace" comes from knowing that God has called us and that we can't mess it up. After all, if it were up to us to earn/get salvation, it seems logical that it would be ultimately up to us to keep it (which we would definitely mess up). However, knowing that God calls us is assurance that we will persevere since he has literally "saved" us from sin and hell. As I stated on my recent post, if it was as simple as a free choice to accept God, then we would be saving ourselves.

I have been reading your blog and have really enjoyed and been instructed by your thoughts. I call my self a Charasmatic, Reformed , Quaker who is currently on a Mission to a Nashville Southern Baptist Church.
Recently in my Sunday School class I was told that I was not premitted to talk about Predestination because Southern Baptists do not believe in Predestination..as I have been sorting this out with my Teachers it appears that you have sumerised their POV very well ..on beoing questioned they have told me that God looks into the future and " chooses" those who choose him ..my unanswered question to them ...referenced Ephesians 2:8-10 ...if we are fore known and choosen by God it doesn't appear to be because we have earned his Visit. that at least seems to be what scripture is telling me.
The overriding issue is what I feel is an over emphisis of what we should be doing for God vs what God has done for use ...or as you mentioned an issue of humility ..for me realizing that God has called me not because of my efforts but because of His Sovreign will ...gives me a peace that cannot be described...Hope that all makes sense ...I will be a regular reader of your Blog and its comments ..thanks for taking the time to do this ..

Gods peace to you and enjoy that Vacation :) The view and food from Scomas in Sausilito is highly recomended .. Kenn

So your list is pretty long, but here is a list of things that have happened since the last time I talked to you:

1) Haley's Comet passed Earth... twice.
2) Sixteen US presidents were elected.
3) There were 11 amendments added to the Constitution.
4) Prohibition was created, and repealed.
5) The Titanic was built, set sail, sank, was discovered, and became the subject of major motion pictures.
6) Bell bottoms came in style, went out of style, and came back in style.
7) I also turned 18. Your wittle buddy growin up.
